I'm getting an iPad soon and I have an AVI movie file I want to put on it. But I had some problems converting my AVI to a mp4 format for my iPad. I know AVI is a popular video format. It comes with good video quality with relative small size. However, how can I convert .avi files then to view AVI video files on iPad? I'm confused. ---- From Missy
Firstly, let us make clearly what formats that iPad supports on earth:
Audio playback - AAC, Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3, AIFF, and WAV
TV and video
- H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
- MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.
